PLS 360 laser detector creates a detection disk at 360° within a radius of 200 m. Just like a radar, PLS 360 scans its environment and detects any movement disturbing the detector’s infrared beam. Since it is permanently scanning, the system can cover a surface area with 400 m diameters, i.e. 12 ha. PLS 360 detector is equipped with 2 transmitter / receiver units and generates 2 detection beams each of which makes 6000 measuring points at each turn. Each unit may be positioned to +/- 5°, so as to tilt the beam downwards and adapt detection to the environment of the site to be protected. When the system detects an intrusion, alarm information is sent via RS 485 link or through dry contact to the alarm centre. The intrusion polar co-ordinates, i.e. the detection distance and angle, as well as the 14 areas predefined by PLS 360, then allows a video dome to be enslaved and enables effective alarm verification.
PLS 360 detector is used to protect large areas and adapts perfectly to sensitive sites such as airports, logistics platforms or any other site that requires approach-area surveillance. For yet more reliable detection, it is possible to create some non-detection masks and thus isolate some areas which may generate false alarms (vegetation, access and traffic areas, etc.).

The laser detectors require strict and precise installation in order to guarantee an efficient and stable operation, regardless of the configuration of the site to be protected.
The installation height, position of the beam and the Scaniris laser detection range must be taken into account while installing an LS-range detector at a specific height, in order to guarantee the required detection range.
It is better to install the detectors in flat and cleared areas as the relief may create some dead zones where detection will not be effective.
Check that you fix the detector correctly so that it is perfectly stationary and does not generate unwanted activations.
Clear the detection area of any vegetation that may disturb the detection beam. Check that the detector is well located, taking into account the dead zones naturally created by the obstacles present in the detection field.
In case of façade protection, or any other application which requires vertical detection, the following recommendations must be followed to guarantee effective operation.
Mechanical orientation: the detector must be tilted in such a way as to create an angle of 5° minimum with the vertical support on which the device is fixed.
The working principle of the laser detection technology is based on flight time variations caused by an intrusion or changes in the detector’s reference environment. If an intruder cuts the infrared beam, the flight time values change and an alarm is triggered.
The infrared pulse wavelength is 905nm, i.e. above that of visible light, which makes the detection beam fully invisible to the naked eye and undetectable. With a maximum range of 300m at 360°, Sorhea Laser detectors are capable of protecting a very large surface with a single device. In case of horizontal protection, the detector scans the sensitive area through continuous parallel ground scanning. The detection environment is then fully covered by a horizontal detection beam.
