On 7, 8 and 9 June, SORHEA took part in Windays, a 100% online virtual fair dedicated to safety, security, and more.
On this occasion, our Head of International Sales Benjamin Tate gave a conference on the complex subject of “How to choose the most appropriate technology for sensitive sites permieter detection?”.
Webinar held at 2021 Wiley Industry Days.
So what was our expert’s advice?
As a first step, it is essential to carefully study the threat from which we wish to protect a site (theft, damage, terrorist acts, etc.). This will allow us to determine which technology will be the most appropriate, and what level of security is expected.
It will also be important to determine precisely the physical origin of the threat: wall, windows, roof… Thanks to this information, we will be able to install the security solutions at the most appropriate points to ensure flawless security.
It will also be necessary to know what type of reaction is expected from the installed intrusion detection system: repulsion, slowing down the intrusion, tracking the intruder on site… In order to find the most suitable technology for the client’s needs.
Once the threats have been identified, it is necessary to study the site: is there already a protective infrastructure such as a wall or fence, are there power points available, is the site prone to strong weather changes or intense vegetation? The site study will also reveal external factors that are important to consider in order not to choose a technology that could be compromised during use. For example, the presence of animals on the site is a factor that can interfere with the detection by the infrared cells of our barriers if they are not configured to recognize them.
In order to build a successful security system for a site, it is essential to be fully aware of the technologies available.
Benjamin Tate then presents the strengths and limits of our main technologies: active infrared, shock detection cables, microwave and video analysis.
Each of these technologies has its own applications: for example, active infrared will be recommended when there is very limited space available for securing a site, while shock detection cables will be recommended for complex perimeters already equipped with good quality fencing.
After studying the site and the threats, the technical constraints and the choice of the technology to be installed, it is essential to choose the right expert to carry out your project.
The expert you choose must be able to offer you the necessary support before the sale ( especially for the definition of all the points previously discussed), but also during the deployment of your solution: from the installation to the product configuration. He should also be able to support you after the sale and installation of your security system, through technical training, a hotline at your disposal, provision of spare parts, etc.
It is thanks to its expertise in numerous technologies and its wide range of pre- and after-sales services that SORHEA stands out and is now the European leader in perimeter intrusion detection.
