The application discrimination train of our infrared barriers is a success on the Belgian railway network!
INFRABEL, via our Belgian partner RAS SECURITY, has installed a complete intrusion detection system of our MAXIRIS infrared barriers and our G-FENCE shock detection cable. This project took place in the heart of the north-south junction in Brussels, the country’s most important railway site.
1,200 is the number of trains that take the tunnel south of the north-midday junction every day. A real railway node in Belgium. Frédéric Sacré, spokesman for INFRABEL, explains that they detect 18 intrusions every year in the tunnel south of the north-south junction. This has the effect of stopping traffic for several tens of kilometres.
Our MAXIRIS infrared barriers avoid large blockages and delays when a person enters the tracks thanks to:
- Filtering the size and speed of the intruder’s movement. When cells are cut by an individual, an alarm is triggered to optimize the speed of intervention.
- An application discrimination of the train that allows to distinguish between people and trains.
To complete the securing of the tunnels, we have installed our shock-detection cable which considerably reduces the danger on the tracks and fights against intrusions and any attempts to damage fences.
By choosing the G-FENCE cable detection solution, INFRABEL ensures the protection of fences, tracks and individuals while reporting intrusion attempts. Composed of an integrated zoning function that allows you to create up to 10 detection zones per management unit, the early detection of the G-FENCE cable allows police teams to intervene very quickly.
Over the entire railway network, 591 trespassing incidents were reported last year. Five people were killed.
SMART BRIDGE: integration with VMS
Our teams have developed SMART BRIDGE, an integration software for VMS – Video Management Systems, such as Milestone Systems, Genetec, Avigilon, Qognify Cayuga.
SMART BRIDGE is dedicated to all our SORHEA solutions, which is why we recommended it for INFRABEL in particular. Indeed, SMART BRIDGE is compatible with the MILESTONE XPROTECT VMS that INFRABEL already integrated into their security system to store and analyze video surveillance files. Their goal is to centralize as much data as possible to optimize site protection. SMART BRIDGE provides connectivity between SORHEA detection products and VMS for simplified alarm management.
2019 – First installation of our connected fences on the Belgian railway network INFRABEL.
In 2019, RAS SECURITY installed a complete G-FENCE 600Z intrusion detection system on 300 metres of fencing protecting the tracks.
As a result, INFRABEL is forced to install fences along the tracks. This device, put in place, is not enough to make disappear the dangerous behaviors. To combat this type of intrusion, the Belgian company installed fences in 2015 preventing any attempt to cross the tracks. This installation is bearing fruit, with a clear decrease in intrusions. But in response to the installation of these fences, acts of vandalism on the fences are recorded. Indeed, the installations are regularly damaged or even dismantled, forcing the technical services to intervene regularly to restore the installations.
INFRABEL chooses to strengthen its deterrent system with new, more efficient technological equipment. With the support of our historic Belgian partner RAS SECURITY, an active distributor of electronic security equipment in Belgium, INFRABEL opts for the shock-sensing cable system, G-FENCE 600Z, designed by SORHEA.
A fence-based shock detection system that allows zoning to the nearest metre.
INFRABEL quickly realized that it would be difficult to secure the tracks sustainably with traditional means. By choosing the G-FENCE 600Z detection cable solution, INFRABEL ensures the protection of fences, tracks and individuals while reporting intrusion attempts. Composed of an integrated zoning function that allows you to create up to 10 detection zones per management unit, G-FENCE allows early detection allows police teams to intervene very quickly.
The operating principle of this technology is the detection of variations in the motion of an object relative to a point of origin. During an intrusion, the vibration information received by the sensors reaches management units that process the information and trigger an alarm by analysing the response of all the sensors. During the intrusive action, the vibrations are perceived by the accelerometer sensors fixed on the fence and transmitted to the management unit which analyzes the information and generates an alarm if the trigger threshold is reached.
For ease of installation, the G-FENCE control unit can be used remotely from inside the building, where a 12 VDC power source is available. The system is designed to tolerate up to 200 m of inert cable between the control unit and the sensors. In addition, an integrated web server facilitates maintenance of the G-FENCE. Remote maintenance and adjustment of sensitivity and number of impacts, as well as a time-stamped history (with location of intrusion) are directly available via an Ethernet link.
In conclusion, this technology, very easy to install, makes it possible to equip a fence already in place, reduce civil engineering operations and protect long perimeters, unlike other solutions on the market. The detector cable has the particularity of being sensitive to cutting, climbing, vibration or tearing of fence panels.
